The Friends of Mianus River Park (Friends) is an all volunteer group. We are a non profit corporation and a registered 501c3 allowing donors to make tax deductible contributions. While the group formed in 2008, our origins date back to 2004 when the the City of Stamford and the National Park Service held a series of meetings with the Public to address the park’s deterioration.

The Friends stated mission is “To Sustain and Protect the Mianus River Park for All Users and Future Generations.” To do so, we work not only to restore and improve the park but also to create a place that can be enjoyed by a wide variety of users. We rely solely on donations, grants and membership fees. Friends support the three entities; Mianus River State Park (Treetops), Mianus River Park (Stamford) and Mianus River and Natural Park (Greenwich) that visitors collectively refer to as the Park.

We work closely with federal, state and local governments and other volunteer organizations. Park improvements are approved in advance by the appropriate authorities. Every effort is made to help return the park back to its natural state while considering the needs of park users. Our Board meets monthly to review financials, projects and goals.
