Improving the Meander Trail

Being National Trails Day, there was a large turnout of volunteers and much was accomplished. Ryan had already scoped out and flagged the projected narrower path of the Meander Trail.

Work involved:

  • Covering the areas to be reclaimed by nature with brushes and leaves;
  • Armoring wet spots where needed; and
  • Knicking certain sections for water run-off

There were trail braids everywhere and much of the river bank was barren. By 12 noon, a wide swath of sand and mud along the exposed riverbank was transformed into a tight flowing singletrack.
